QAIA...positive growth

QAIA passenger traffic up 9.4pc

AMMAN, December 30, 2014

Airport International Group (AIG), the Jordanian company responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA), witnessed a 9.4 per cent increase in passenger traffic (PAX) in November year-to-date (YTD).

YTD PAX reached 6,591,184 as opposed to 6,024,078 during the same period last year.

Alternately, YTD aircraft movements (ACM) rose to 67,686 ACM, represented by a 4.9 per cent increase over the same period in 2013.

Meanwhile, PAX in November decreased by 5.6 per cent to come in at 428,270 PAX compared to 453,444 PAX over the same month last year. ACM registered a minor fall during November, dropping 2.4 per cent to stand at 5,125 ACM in comparison to 5,252 ACM during the same month in 2013.

“This month’s positive year-to-date figures are a clear indicator of QAIA’s growing strength as a prime travel hub within the region. The slight drop experienced during November is attributed to the fact that the Eid Al Adha vacation, which occurred in October, and the Christmas holidays, which occur at the end of December, have led to a somewhat slower season in between, with vacationers opting to travel at the end of the year instead,” stated AIG CEO Kjeld Binger – TradeArabia News Service
