Etihad hosts third annual Aviation Health Conference

ABU DHABI, June 18, 2015

More than 100 delegates from the aviation health industry gathered at the Radisson Blu, Yas Island in Abu Dhabi (UAE) for the third annual Aviation Health Conference, hosted by national airline Etihad Airways.

The conference was held in partnership with the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and attracted expert speakers and aviation health professionals from across the world.

With a focus on psychological issues in aircrew, the conference explored industry best practice as well as innovative solutions to the physical and psychological effects of working in all areas of aviation with Etihad Airways and GCAA pioneering the discussion in the GCC.

Keynote speakers included Dr Nadia Al Bastaki, vice president Medical Services, Etihad Airways and Ismail Mohammed Al Balooshi, assistant director General Aviation Safety Affairs, GCAA.

Throughout the conference specialist speakers and expert panels explored areas of aviation medicine with an emphasis on prevention as well as assessment, management treatment and care of those working within the aviation industry.

Dr Bastaki said: “The conference provides a platform for discussion, collaboration and learning in the areas most critical to aviation health and is led by international experts.

“We are very proud to host the Aviation Health Conference and to welcome more than 100 delegates, including those from other airlines across the region, to the home of Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi.”

Earlier this year, Etihad Airways received accreditation from the GCAA to operate the country’s first Aeromedical Centre (AeMC). This grants extended privileges to the clinic, to allow additional functions to be performed on behalf of the regulator.

Etihad Airways was also recently selected to become the first company in Abu Dhabi with an onsite medical facility to support the visa application process for thousands of employees and their dependents in the UAE.

The facility will open later this year following an agreement with Ambulatory Healthcare Services – SEHA. – TradeArabia News Service
