Dnata...gearing up for record-breaking summer

Dnata gears up for busiest summer

DUBAI, July 8, 2015

Leading air services company Dnata will see a record-breaking summer this year at the Dubai International Airport as it prepares to handle 50,000 flights, 20 million passengers and 30 million bags from around the world during June, July and August.

This volume means the dnata teams at Dubai International Airport will handle a flight every 80 seconds, on average.

“Our team in Dubai has an extra challenge this year: it will be the airport’s busiest summer ever and each member is ready to ensure each passenger and piece of bag arrives seamlessly,” said Jon Conway, divisional senior vice president. “From aircraft appearance, baggage and passenger handling, pushback and water services, every person plays an integral part in safely turning each plane around, often against considerable time constraints.”

The people resources required for a turnaround varies; a Boeing 737 takes 16 people, while the A380 super jumbo requires at least 52 people, and is a coordinated effort. Each member of the dnata team has a role they need to execute with extreme precision to ensure the aircraft is ready for its next journey and next group of passengers, baggage and cargo.

“Our goal is to ensure our customer airlines and their passengers enjoy a smooth travel experience, regardless of season. During the summer, however, families anticipate their holidays more than other travel periods. In Dubai, we can turnaround a fully loaded aircraft in as little as 60 minutes—a testament to the hard work and coordination required from each team member,” added Conway.

In addition to its ground handling services, dnata also provides meet-and-assist and lounge services for passengers at both airports. This summer, the company expects to welcome over 90,000 people with marhaba’s meet and greet service, and 230,000 people in marhaba’s lounges throughout Dubai’s airports.

In addition to Dubai, dnata has ground handling operations in 20 other airports around the world, serving more than 250 airlines. – TradeArabia News Service
