Bahrain hosts Gulf Flight Safety Council meeting

MANAMA, April 25, 2016

The Gulf Flight Safety Council (GFSC), a regional not-for-profit group of aviation organisations dedicated to promoting the improvement of safety in the GCC region, is holding its first meeting of 2016 in Bahrain.

The meeting is jointly sponsored by Gulf Air, the kingdom’s national carrier, Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) and Gulf Aviation Academy (GAA).

The event, which began on April 24, will run till April 25 at the Gulf Aviation Academy.

Comprising different sessions focused on remotely-piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) flights, safety operations, cabin safety, general issues and incidents related to regional airlines, this year’s event will see representatives from Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), Gulf Aviation Academy (GAA), Gulf Air, Bahrain’s Civil Aviation Affairs (CAA) and Ministry of Interior (MOI).

Airlines from the region, including Gulf Air, Emirates Airline, Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways, Saudi Airlines, Oman Air and Flydubai will also participate in the proceedings.

The council meets twice yearly in April and October to promote safety improvement initiatives and hosts an annual safety summit each year in December.

The Gulf Flight Safety Council (GFSC) was formed early 2000 when a small group of individuals sought to establish a focus for Gulf regional flight safety issues. From those humble beginnings the GFSC has grown into a diverse organisation consisting of members from all over the region and around the world, including manufacturers, regulators, air traffic service providers, business jet and VVIP operators, airlines and cargo operators and many more. The GFSC is based in Dubai and continues to grow and support its’ members in the area of safety. - TradeArabia News Service
