Emirates sees a strong business case in premium economy option
Emirates 'considering a premium economy option'
DUBAI, May 12, 2016
Emirates president Sir Tim Clark has revealed that the airline is considering the addition of a premium economy option to some of its aircraft, said a report.
Speaking at the launch of Emirates’ 2015/16 financial results, Clark noted that the airline is surveying different product development opportunities and is seriously looking at a premium economy option, said a report in Arabian Business.
“We’re looking at all sorts of opportunities in terms of product development but clearly there’s a business case for looking seriously at premium economy," Clark said.
He also highlighted that the group saw a strong business case to introduce more two-cabin aircraft - economy and business class - as the economy continues to flatline.
“We already have a large number of two-class craft flying…and, as the market develops – notwithstanding the flatlining of the economy at the moment – we will probably take more," he said.
Moving ahead, the group is getting ready to unveil a new first-class cabin next year, which will be introduced on its Airbus superjumbos and Boeing 777 aircraft, the report said.
