Oman expects over 350,000 Indian visitors

Oman, a fast emerging destination for Mice and weddings in the Middle East, is expecting to see 350,000 to 360,000 Indian tourists this year - a 15 to 20 per cent jump on the nearly 300,000 Indian visitors in 2015, said a report.
"We received 299,022 tourists from India in 2015, which was a 17 per cent growth from 2014. With growing interest in the wedding destination and Mice segments, we are expecting 15-20 per cent growth in tourists from India in 2016," said a report in Oman Daily observer citing a statement from India Representative Lubaina Sheerazi of Oman's Tourism Ministry.
The country's tourism department is targeting high-end, evolved, neo-educated travellers from India, who are looking for a destination filled with natural beauty and authentic Arabian experience
"Our target segment from India mainly consists of families, couples, business and weddings. And we mostly look at age group between 25-65 years," Sheerazi said in the statement.
Oman saw a growth of 17.7 per cent in total international visitor numbers in 2015 to 2.4 million.
The GCC has an ambitious new tourism strategy and plans to increase the number of international visitors to 5.3 million by 2040.
