Makkah hotel catches fire
MAKKAH, July 19, 2016
A hotel in Makkah, one of the holiest cities in Saudi Arabia, caught fire on July 17, sending plumes of smoke over the area, said a report.
Located in Azaziya neighborhood, firefighters worked hard to extinguish the flames that engulfed the 10-storey building, WAM reported.
According to the another report in Saudi Press Agency, a spokesperson said in a statement that palm trees outside the hotel caught fire and flames from the fronds rapidly reached the building's upper floors. He did not indicate how the trees caught fire or name the hotel.
No injuries or deaths have been reported from the fire which erupted Sunday, Saudi Arabia's Civil Defence said.
