Golf star Gavins named Fairmont The Palm's first sports ambassador

DUBAI, August 8, 2016

Fairmont The Palm, Dubai has partnered with up-and-coming British Golf pro, Daniel Gavins, who will take on a new role as the resort’s first official sports ambassador.

A rising star of the golfing world, 25-year-old Gavins, who turned professional in 2012, is currently ranked in the top 200 on the European Tour. He is also the current world record holder for the TrackMan Combine Test with a score of 93 that even the greats, including Tiger Woods have not beaten.

“I’m already looking forward to waking up in the morning from my room at Fairmont The Palm to watch the sun rise over the Dubai Marina skyline; it’s an unbeatable way to start the day. I feel really at home here and when I’m on holiday with my partner or family, it's tough to tear myself away from the stunning beach, great service and amazing facilities to hit the golf course!” said Gavins.

"Golf is a game that has given me, and my family great pleasure, health benefits and the opportunity to meet some amazing people, I would encourage anyone to go to their nearest golf club and get involved with this amazing game as it combines a great sport with social activities within your community and can add benefits to becoming healthier,” he added.

A regular on the international tournament circuit, he will make his Dubai debut this year, having secured a rookie season card for the PGA European Tour’s 2016 Race to Dubai, which culminates in the season-ending DP World Tour Championship.

“With three fantastic world-class courses located within easy reach of the resort, including the long-established Emirates Golf Club, The Address Montgomerie Dubai and Jumeirah Golf Estates, the latter which is home to the DP World Tour Championship, we already host many keen amateur golfers,” said Mark Sawkins, general manager, Fairmont The Palm. “By bringing Daniel on board as our first official golf ambassador, this presents a great opportunity to not only promote Dubai as a must-visit golfing destination, but also show our support as his career continues to grow from strength to strength. As a guest of Fairmont The Palm, Daniel will not only enjoy our award-winning facilities and services but will also interact with other resort guests and even share a few insider tips and golfing tricks,” he added.

As part of the exclusive partnership of Fairmont The Palm and the British golf pro, golf enthusiasts staying at the resort, are invited to take part in the Golf Clinics, which will take place during Gavins’ visits to Dubai, where fans can personally meet him, fine tune their swing and receive golfing tips to improve their game. Furthermore, guests would be able to watch Gavins play during ‘DP World Tour Championship Dubai’, which will take place between November 17 and 20 at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai.

This partnership comes in alignment with the well-established ‘Fairmont Golf’ programme that operates under the umbrella of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, a global luxury hospitality leader, where Fairmont’s golf properties, whether Fairmont managed courses or partner courses are capable of immersing the guest in the local environment through the game of golf. - TradeArabia News Service
