UAE National Day celebrations at Al Maryah Island

ABU DHABI, November 17, 2016

Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi’s business and lifestyle destination, is inviting residents and visitors to join its festive celebrations to mark the UAE 45th National Day on December 2 and 3.

Taking pride in its Emirati heritage and showcasing the richness of the UAE’s culture, Al Maryah Island will host an array of performances, including Ayyala and Yola dancers, traditional drummers, a National Day parade and a police marching band on its stunning waterfront Promenade.

On December 2, a spectacular fireworks display at 9 pm will illuminate the iconic Al Maryah Island skyline in the colours of the UAE flag. Visitors to the island will also be able to enjoy a variety of fun, educational and engaging activities for the whole family on both days. These activities will take place in three different themed tents, each representing a core element of the UAE’s heritage and history: the Desert, Sea, and Oasis tents.

The Desert tent will feature khoos making, the weaving of dried palm leaves into baskets for storing dates, sand art, as well as give visitors the opportunity to meet and pet saluki dogs, which have been irreplaceable companions in the desert for generations. In the Sea tent, visitors will be able to learn about the making of gargoor, an underwater fish net which was used by fishermen for over a century, admire the art of falconry and enjoy complimentary henna art. In the Oasis tent, guests will be able try their hand at Emirati dessert making and calligraphy. Kids will also be entertained by games and train rides around the Promenade.

In addition, an array of food trucks will be serving up delicious fare on both days. - TradeArabia News Service
