Passenger dies on board Oman Air flight

MUSCAT, January 16, 2017

A passenger travelling on an Oman Air flight from Jeddah to Muscat passed away on board, despite the flight being diverted to Riyadh following the medical emergency.

The carrier made an emergency landing at Riyadh King Khalid International Airport and medical assistance was coordinated prior to arrival. However, the passenger 'succumed to his condition' upon arrival.

The incident took place on flight 674 that departed from Saudi Arabia on Monday morning. After the passenger developed a "medical condition”, the captain decided to land the flight at Riyadh, the nearest airport given the emergency, Oman Air said in a statement.

Details about the passenger could not be immediately ascertained.

The carrier has also expressed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
