Rotana to open two new hotels in Qatar

DOHA, February 12, 2017

Rotana, one of the leading hotel management companies, will be investing a further $250 million into Qatar's hospitality sector with plans to open two new hotels in the state by 2019, said a report.

The fourth quarter of 2018 would witness the opening of 'Downtown Arjaan by Rotana, Doha' followed by the unveiling of 'Plaza Rayhaan by Rotana, Doha' in the fourth quarter of 2019, the Qatar Tribune reported citing Guy Hutchinson, Rotana Hotels chief operating officer, who spoke to media on the sidelines of the ongoing Rotana Hotels 2017 GCC Roadshow in Doha.

"Rotana is entering 2017 with aims to strengthen its already formidable presence in Qatar's vibrant hospitality sector with two properties in the pipeline. Rotana will become the largest hotel operator in Qatar once these two hotels are open," Hutchinson said.

The new properties will add 765 rooms to the company's existing inventory of 1,510 rooms in Qatar, bringing the total tally to 2,275 keys, he said.

Rotana already operates a portfolio of four properties in Qatar including two five-star hotels City Centre Rotana and Oryx Rotana. Other existing Rotana properties in the country include Centro Capital Doha and Sedra Residences by Rotana. - TradeArabia News Service
