Oman Air vows to back SMEs

MUSCAT, May 23, 2017

Oman Air recently highlighted its commitment to promote Omani products and enterprises at a seminar held in cooperation with Oman trading platform “Taiseer”.

The seminar held at Oman Tourism College was specifically organised for small and medium enterprises and the main focus was on supporting and developing Omani products.

The event was held under the patronage of Mohsen bin Khamis Al Balushi, member of the board of directors of Oman Air, Oman Air’s chief executive officer Paul Gregorowitsch and a number of professionals in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Attending pioneers and business leaders were encouraged to learn how to register electronically in the Oman Air tenders and purchases system enabling them to market their Omani products to the national carrier.

Paul Gregorowitsch, CEO of Oman Air, commented: “Oman Air has made every effort to support this group of entrepreneurs. The company has entered into a number of agreements with many small and medium enterprises in various sectors and offers continuous follow-up to support and enhance the cooperation with all parties involved. Being the national carrier, Oman Air has a record of providing sustained support to Omani businesses and this seminar is part of a series of seminars and initiatives aimed at developing and supporting Omani products and small and medium enterprises.”

Dr. Khalid Al Balushi, senior manager Government Affairs and Sustainability, added that Oman Air’s support for SMEs in Oman forms part of its comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility programme.

Waleed Al Masilhi, CEO of Oman trading platform Taiseer, delivered a speech and clarified that this session followed on from the recently signed MoU with Oman Air, aiming at promoting mutual cooperation between the two parties to support entrepreneurs and SME enterprises in the sultanate.

Al Masilhi reiterated the importance of supporting Omani SMEs and their products by raising awareness of Oman Air’s online system and how to register. All companies who have an agreement with Taiseer can access this platform and find out the opportunities available in the local market, in particular Oman Air tenders and requisitions in all areas of the airline’s operations.

The seminar was also attended by a number of students from Oman Tourism College to learn about future business opportunities connected with the tourism industry in Oman. The event lasted for one day and included an exhibition which showcased products and services offered by the participating institutions. - TradeArabia News Service
