UAE to open new visa offices in India

DUBAI, December 10, 2017

The UAE has unveiled plans to open three new consular offices in India to facilitate easier visa application across the country, a report said citing an announcement made by the UAE embassy in New Delhi.

The new offices will be located in Chandigarh, Chennai and Hyderabad, enabling Indians in those regions to get UAE visas easily as they can avoid travelling to the existing three consular offices in distant cities, said a report in Gulf News.

Boosting bilateral engagement with India, the embassy has also launched a mobile application - UAE Embassy, New Delhi - to serve both Emiratis and Indians during their travel in India and the UAE.

The app will offer Emiratis emergency assistance during travel in India and Indians can get information on visa and attestation from the app, the report said.

The UAE is home to around 2.8 million expatriate Indians, many of whom are blue collar workers in the infrastructure sector.

“The app is more like a map having key destinations along with proper guidance to solve any problems [during travel,” said Dr Ahmad Al Banna, the UAE Ambassador to India.

Opening of the new three consular offices will take the total number of the UAE consular offices in India to six, it said.
