UAE-India route to be among top travel segments by 2036

DUBAI, February 7, 2018

India is set to become one of the world's three fastest growing air transport markets by 2036, and flights between India and the UAE will make the country pair the fastest growing travel segment in the industry, a report revealed.

According to a report released by International Air Transport Association (Iata), the flight plan between the two countries will add over 20.2 million passengers per year, an almost 6 per cent percent growth rate.

Iata predicts an almost 240 per cent increase in the number of travellers from India, which translates to an addition of 337 million travellers over the next two decades.

Globally, Iata expects 7.8 billion passengers to travel in 2036, a near doubling of the 4 billion expected to fly this year.

China will lead the charge as it displaces the US as the world’s largest passenger market in 2022, with India, Indonesia and the UK capping the top five.

The biggest driver of demand will be the Asia-Pacific region, growing by 4.6 per cent, which will be the source of more than half the new passengers over the next two decades. - TradeArabia News Service
