The Ritz-Carlton explores local cultural experiences

DUBAI, April 3, 2018

The Ritz-Carlton has launched its latest brand initiative, #RCMemories, to further draw guests into its destinations through unexpected moments and unique programming.

What started as a way for guests to organically share memories is now a way for The Ritz-Carlton to help create memories through a collection of distinct experiences. Curated by the Ladies and Gentlemen of The Ritz-Carlton across the brand’s portfolio and inspired by the surrounding locales, #RCMemories connects guests to local culture by featuring a destination’s taste, scent, sight or sound.

A homage to the identity and heritage of a destination, #RCMemories offerings are unique to the individual Ritz-Carlton property. Whether it’s an amenity, a cultural ceremony, or an engaging performance, a property’s programming brings a unique element of its location to life. #RCMemories includes several cultural guest experiences that happen daily, which are further supported by programming and opportunities guests can participate in.

At The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Hamra Beach, the sound of the marine bell resonates every day with the sunset, as an invitation for guests to gather on the beachfront and listen to ancient tales about Arabian sailors, while sipping on exotic sundowner beverages skillfully prepared by the resort’s bartender. Guests are then invited to continue the evening on the Shore House deck, enjoy the splendid views over the Gulf of Arabia, while the sun is setting.

The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Wadi Desert offers a daily live falcon show, providing guests with an insight of how the Bedouins used to train their birds of prey. The daily show is a behind the scenes experience showcasing various disciplines of falconry and closing with a spectacular flying display. An interaction between the falconer and the birds takes place at sunset upon a scenic desert backdrop in the 500-hectare nature reserve.

The journey at The Ritz-Carlton, DIFC begins with a warm welcome with a specially crafted mocktail of the day upon arrival in the lobby. Known for creating defining moments, the hotel creates special memories unique to each guest. Through a unique collaboration with Opera Gallery, they can organise a special session on the ‘Art of Collecting Art’, the spa’s signature East Meets West treatment is enhanced with custom blended Ritz-Carlton oils, an interactive scavenger hunt enlivens the hotel’s extensive art collection for Ritz Kids.

At The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai, guests can exchange a cultural conversation with a lively local man who will mesmerise them with his charm by sharing his knowledge about the Arabic culture. The property hosts a weekly Falcon show at the Gulf Lawn and offers weekly Club Lounge experiences like Henna, Arabic mezze and the “frozen shisha”.

It is at sunset that guests gather in the Lobby of The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal, to experience the magic of the Grand Mosque at the truly unique Harmony of Lights ceremony. As lights reflecting the phases of the moon turn the white marble from shades of soft blush grey to moonlight blue, the lobby’s normally iridescent chandeliers are dimmed and candles are lit. A pianist’s fingers start to move across the keys, and the powerful sounds of an opera singer fill the air, creating a scene to enliven the senses and a moment of serenity to treasure.

Each day after Maghreb prayer, at The Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh guests will be immersed in an ancient culture through a memorable experience where the lobby lights dim as a local Arabian man enters and starts grinding green coffee beans, using the Nejer Pot, and reciting Arabic poetry. When the preparation is completed, a second man enters to serve the freshly ground coffee and invites the guests to experience the Najad heritage.

As the sun sets and the rays of the sun sparkle over the river Nile and the Egyptian museum, The Nile Ritz-Carlton, Cairo with a unique Pharaonic Mosaic Façade, lights up. Guests are welcomed with authentic, locally inspired hibiscus and sugar cane drinks, that were originally served in ancient Egypt. The soft sounds of the oud quartet filters through the lobby every evening immersing the guests into this cultural ritual that transports them into the magic of a bygone era.

In each instance, #RCMemories is designed to encourage exploration and further the understanding of local cultures through unexpected experiences. Guests are encouraged to share their experiences with the programme on their social media channels through the signature #RCMemories hashtag. - TradeArabia News Service
