Dubai Customs showcases achievements to Chinese delegates

DUBAI, June 18, 2018

Dubai Customs today showcased its distinctive performance and achievements in facilitating trade and protecting society to a Chinese delegation visiting the emirate.

Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, director of Dubai Customs, welcomed the Chinese delegates who came from Yiwu City in Zhejiang Province.

From Dubai Customs, Abdullah Mohammed Al Khaja, executive director of Clients Management Division; Younis Othman, director of IT Department; and Eman Al Suwaidi, director of Customs Declaration Management attended the meeting.

The delegation included Lin Yi, party secretary, CPC Yiwu City Committee; Wang Birong, director of Bureau of Commerce, and Chen Chunmei director of Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office.

The visitors also learned about Dubai Customs’ vital role in supporting external trade of Dubai with China; its biggest trade partner in 2017 with a value of Dh176 billion ($47.9 billion).

Musabih commented: “Following the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, we work hard to support economic and trade ties with China. We have a number of agreements with China in place including DP World’s development and management of a number of Chinese ports. We provide a number of facilities and advanced services to our Chinese partners in order to facilitate trade between us. We are working towards signing a mutual agreement related to the Authorized Economic Operator in the future."

The director of Dubai Customs pointed out China's partnership with the emirate enables it to benefit from Dubai’s strategic position as a regional and international trade hub that is capable of facilitating trade between different countries thanks to its facilities and the existence of more than 20 free zones.

“Dubai is making itself ready to host Expo 2020 which is expected to attract 20 million visitors, and our trade partnerships are gaining further importance,” Musabih said.

The delegates learnt about the smart innovations and applications that were improved by Dubai Customs to introduce the best client services and save time and effort.

The head of the Chinese delegation thanked Dubai Customs for their great efforts in facilitating trade between China and Dubai, and expressed China’s willingness to learn from Dubai’s experience and its advanced customs services. - TradeArabia News Service
