Germany's Obermeyer wins Kuwait airport project deal

KUWAIT CITY, February 21, 2019

Kuwait has signed up Obermeyer, one of Germany's oldest engineering consultancies, to manage key future projects including a new development plan for Kuwait International Airport.

As per the deal, Obermeyer will provide consultancy services for its "2012 structural scheme" which involves execution of a development plan for Kuwait International Airport, reported Kuwait News Agency (Kuna), citing a senior civil aviation official.

The contract, valid for five years, envisages management of current and planned ventures, such as building the third runway and a new observation post, revealed Directorate General for Civil Aviation (DGCA) Director-General Yousef Al Fozan.

The government envisions plans for executing future projects for the airport, such as overhauling the western runway, building three others in the future, two observation towers, and five passenger terminals after finishing the T-2 terminal, he added.
