Oyo UAE sees increase in bookings from India, China

DUBAI, June 17, 2019

Oyo Hotels & Homes, the world's fastest-growing chain of leased and franchised hotels, homes & living spaces, has stated that bookings from India and China constitute nearly 25 per cent of its total bookings in the UAE and continues to rise.

With over 1,000 weekly flights between India and UAE, coupled with the visa on arrival status for Chinese tourists, UAE is now one of the most sought after destinations for tourists from these two countries.

Oyo, with its presence across five emirates, including Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, is hosting thousands of discerning travellers on the lookout for unique experiences.

Commenting on the trend, Manu Midha, regional head, Middle East, Oyo Hotels & Homes, said: "We predict 75 per cent plus occupancy rate across all Oyo hotels and homes during the upcoming summer months. We are witnessing a sustained increase in bookings from China since we established our footprint in the UAE. The numbers from China has also increased due to the introduction of direct and additional flights between the two countries. Apart from leisure travellers, there are several business travellers that visit UAE for business opportunities. The number of Chinese tourists travelling to the GCC is expected to touch 2.9 million in 2022 and the numbers are on the rise each year.”

To address this growing demand in the near future, Oyo plans to touch close to 12,000 rooms across 150 hotels in all the seven Emirates in UAE by 2020.

OYO has welcomed over 100,000 guests from 78 countries across 1,700 rooms in 80 plus hotels and homes since its launch in the UAE last year.

“Back in India, this is the duration when families plan their yearly vacations and several Indians are in the midst of travelling abroad. UAE has now become one of the most sought after destinations due to its close proximity to India. The country offers something to all travellers, right from the variety of cuisines from across the length and breadth of India, a huge Bollywood theme park, among several other leisure destinations. Several families who are planning to spend a longer time in the country prefer to stay at an Oyo Home and we are committed to delivering a high-quality, standardised experience across our categories to these travellers."

The city of Dubai received close to 16.7 million visitors from around the world in 2018, as per the recent Euromonitor international report. Dubai currently ranks amongst the top 10 cities ahead of New York.

“Oyo is working closely with asset owners across UAE to accommodate this burgeoning demand. Dubai is set to attract 25 million visitors by 2025, and these visitors will comprise of a mix of trade and leisure visitors. With close to 190 nations signed up for the multi-billion dollar Expo 2020, we are confident that we will be able to support the inbound trade visitors,” added Midha. - TradeArabia News Service
