Intertek joins Meydan to provide health and safety certification

DUBAI, July 27, 2021

Intertek Group, a total quality assurance provider to industries, has announced that it has partnered with Meydan Hotels & Hospitality to implement the latter’s audit protocol for the Prevention of the Spread of Infection, Posi-Check.

Meydan’s Posi-Check programme will help the group identify health and safety-related risks and plan, prioritise, and manage its protocols against the spread of infection across its hospitality operations.

Posi-Check is part of Intertek’s Protek assurance programme, which protects people, public spaces, and workplaces. Protek is a comprehensive, end-to-end health, safety and well-being programme for people, workplaces and public spaces, according to a statement from the two groups.

"Posi-Check is designed to complement other Intertek Cristal Standards modules which help our clients identify, prioritise and effectively manage risk over multiple disciplines whilst allowing them to focus on delivering the promises associated with their brand," a spokesperson from Meydan group said.

Intertek's Regional Director for Products and Marketing for the Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan Samir Ahmed said: “It is no secret that the pandemic heavily affected the travel and tourism industry. Still, the actions taken by the region’s governments to contain the impact of the outbreak and advance to recovery have been remarkable.

"Meydan Hotels & Hospitality is following the same path, by implementing all the necessary measures to give its employees and guests the confidence and total peace of mind that their health, safety and wellbeing are protected. Our Posi-Check assurance solution will provide the group with the confidence to continue on its journey through recovery and beyond," Ahmed added.

A Posi-Check programme will be implemented across the Meydan Hotels & Hospitality network, including the flagship Meydan Hotel and The Track, Meydan Golf and Bab Al Sham Desert Resorts. As part of the programme, Intertek will conduct various hands-on training sessions, bi-monthly auditing and swab tests to detect Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) on key surfaces in public areas around the group’s amenities, the joint statement added.

Intertek has already partnered with Meydan Hotels & Hospitality as the latter received its ISO 9001 certification, the standard for quality management, and ISO 22001, the food safety management systems certification.-TradeArabia News Service
