Redesigning tourism and laying foundations for future in focus

RIYADH, October 28, 2021

The plenary session of 'Redesigning Tourism' within the Fifth Future Investment Initiatives (FII5) highlighted the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the travel and tourism sectors as well as the measures taken by the world's leaders to deal with the crisis.
 
The session also stressed that much remains to be done in order to enable societies, companies and destinations that depend on travel and tourism to fully recover from the implications of the pandemic, Saudi Press Agency SPA reported.
 
Assistant Minister of Tourism for Executive and Strategic Affairs and Tourism Development Fund Board Member Princess Haifa bint Mohammed bin Saud affirmed that the Covid-19 pandemic has badly affected the tourism sector, adding that the statistics show that 62 million jobs were lost during the pandemic.
 
The participants hailed the Kingdom's efforts in dealing with the impacts of the pandemic, stressing the importance of focusing on strengthening co-ordination and co-operation and moving forward in the global tourism sector in order to overcome the implications of the pandemic and consolidate international economy.
