Qatar Cool completes 5 years
Doha

Qatar District Cooling Company, known as Qatar Cool, which aims to provide efficient district cooling solutions and services for commercial and residential projects in Qatar, has completed five years of operation in the country.

The event was attended by more than 300 guests including VIPs, business executives and Qatar Cool staff. It also held the formal inauguration of the company’s second plant in West Bay with a ribbon-cutting ceremony officiated by United Development Company (UDC) chairman Hussain Alfardan.

“You have shown that nothing is impossible. Together we will conquer challenges, and with your support, build a shared future for the state of Qatar,” said Omar Alfardan, chairman of Qatar Cool.

Fayad Al Khatib, general manager of Qatar Cool, said: “Today we face a lifelong challenge to balance environment, energy and economy.”

“Qatar Cool, through district cooling, succeeded in providing a solution to these challenges as district cooling demands 40 to 60 per cent less power than conventional cooling thus requiring less energy usage,” he added.

Qatar Cool last week announced the operational launch of its second plant in Doha’s financial district. Plant 2 has a capacity of 37,000 TR and is connected through an underground pipe distribution network to Plant 1 also situated in the West Bay, which has a capacity of 30,000 TR.

The combined plants will serve a total of 46 towers in the area; this will include a mixture of residential and office towers, mixed-use towers and a raft of new hotels. – TradeArabia News Service
