Fees for UK visas must be paid online by credit or debit card, before applications are submitted to the Visa Application Centre in Bahrain from tomorrow (February 6).

The UK Border Agency has launched the new online application and payment system, which states fees will be payable in US dollars by Visa, MasterCard or debit card.

Payments using other types of credit or debit cards or in another currency will not be accepted. The new system is part of attempts to improve customer service.

The British Embassy said it would be safer for customers and staff as it reduced the risks associated with handling large amounts of cash during the application process.

Appointments will also be arranged at the applicant's convenience, which should reduce waiting times at the Visa Application Centre. – TradeArabia News Service
