RAK Ceramics, a leading ceramic manufacturer, has introduced a façade system with its Rakslim tiles, which features reduced energy consumption and noise transmission in the interior of the building.
The new tiles, introduced recently at a held a conference at the Atlantis The Palm, Dubai, also improved indoor air quality, a statement said.
This awareness event was organised in line with RAK Ceramics' efforts to complement the UAE Government's green building program and support developers and contractors in securing LEED-certification for their projects.
RAK Ceramics, in collaboration with its joint venture Laticrete, showcased the various installation techniques for the RAK Ceramics façade with RAKSLIM tiles, including direct adhering, spot bonding or with metal anchors secured through epoxy adhesive.
"We are consolidating our portfolio as we continue to position RAK Ceramics as a leading manufacturer of next-generation, environmentally friendly construction products,” said Dr Khater Massaad, CEO, RAK Ceramics.
“The enthusiastic response of the conference delegates reaffirms the excellent quality of our new façade system, which has been introduced to enhance living conditions and support a healthier lifestyle. RAK Ceramics will organise similar awareness campaigns that will draw greater attention to the benefits of our premium-quality products and ultimately promote a cleaner and more sustainable society."
US-based architect Richard P Goldberg, said: "A key feature that makes RAK Ceramics products stand out, particularly with its pro-environment offerings such as the Rakslim tiles, is that it takes fewer natural resources to produce them.
“RAK Ceramics tiles also offer excellent aesthetic value and it is much easier to maintain the façade using RAK Ceramics tiles compared with alternative materials. Moreover, RAK Ceramics tiles fixed with metal anchors/adhesive combination or spot bonding can be designed as ventilated façade or insulated façade; ventilated façade with RAK Ceramics' thin porcelain tiles allow the building to breathe, which greatly improves indoor air quality, while helping reduce energy consumption,” he added.
Rakslim is a durable, ultra-thin collection of large-format, fully rectified porcelain tiles.
Measuring 4.5 mm in thickness, it represents the perfect blend of technical finesse and design aesthetic. Offered in various sizes, Rakslim tiles are lightweight and ideal for indoor wall tile or for exterior cladding projects, and may also be specified for residential or light commercial flooring. – TradeArabia News Service
