Foster subsidiary awarded Abu Dhabi contract

Zug, April 30, 2012

Global Engineering and Construction Group, a Foster Wheeler subsidiary, has been awarded a contract by Abu Dhabi National Chemicals Company for the provision of project management consultancy (PMC) services for an aromatics complex and the supporting infrastructure.

The aromatics complex, which is stage one of the Tacaamol Project, will be located at the Madeenat ChemaWEyaat Al Gharbia site, east of the Ruwais Industrial Complex in Abu Dhabi.

The Foster Wheeler contract value for this project was not disclosed and will be included in the company’s first-quarter 2012 bookings, a statement from the company said.

The aromatics complex is planned to convert almost three million tons per year of heavy and medium naphtha, supplied via pipeline from the Takreer Ruwais Refinery, into paraxylene, mixed xylenes and benzene.

The infrastructure required to support the new complex includes a dedicated export tank farm, jetty and loading berths, the statement said.

Foster Wheeler will, for the aromatics complex and infrastructure, provide PMC services for the frontend design (Feed) phase. The contract also includes an option for Foster Wheeler to provide PMC services for the engineering, procurement and construction phase.

If ChemaWEyaat elects to award this additional work to Foster Wheeler, a separate and subsequent booking will be made, it said.
