UK smart lighting specialist launches new UVC luminaire

LED Direct, a lighting and smart home supplier based in South Yorkshire, UK, has  announced the launch of UV-C luminaire, which disinfects the air and surfaces in the room, by penetrating the cells and breaking down the microorganisms and RNA of viruses like the one responsible for Covid-19.

The latest innovation to tackle the global outbreak of coronavirus, LED Direct has launched the Purelight Flow UV-C.

The technology uses wavelengths of 253.7 nm and allows for an effective disinfection effect to help combat the spread of the disease.

The UV-C radiation disinfects the air and surfaces in the room, by penetrating the cells and breaking down the microorganisms and RNA of viruses like the one that causes Covid-19, said the statement.

As a result, the microorganisms become inactive as the radiation distorts their genetic material and renders them incapable of reproducing. The lighting covers walls, worktops, and objects while reaching every nook and corner in the form of reflected rays, it stated.

"Purelight Flow devices provide effective disinfection by combining a flow luminaire and an external radiator, delivering smooth, uninterrupted operation. In line with the device's carbon filter, they can eliminate bacteria, mites, viruses, fungi and other microorganisms. They ensure the cleanest and freshest air by putting safety first," said a company spokesperson.

"We are very excited to be launching this groundbreaking air sanitiser product. The outbreak of coronavirus has caused businesses worldwide to adapt and change, and our launch of UV-C technology to the UK market is the latest in those innovations," he noted.

"The Purelight Flow devices are fantastic commercial solutions, and we hope industries such as hospitality, beauty and hair salons, schools, manufacturers, and offices can all experience the benefits in creating a safer, cleaner world," he added.
