Saudi Arabia stops new wave of Iranian airstrikes

Saudi Arabia’s air defences today (March 7) stopped a new wave of airstrikes, this time targeting Aramco’s Shaybah field, reported SPA, citing the kingdom's Ministry of Defence.

Shaybah is one of Saudi Arabia’s most vital “super-giant” fields.

In a succession of posts on X, Ministry of Defence spokesman Major General Turki Al  Maliki said a total of 16 drones headed toward the Shaybah field in four waves were intercepted and destroyed in the Empty Quarter.

In separate posts, Al Maliki also announced the “interception and destruction” of a ballistic missile and a cruise launched toward Prince Sultan Air Base in Al-Khar.

Saudi defence forces continued to intercept incoming drones toward Shaybah, Prince Sultan Air Bass and Riyadh, it added.
