SalamAir strengthens global reach through Abacus GDS activation

SalamAir, Oman’s Low-Cost airline, has further strengthened its global distribution capabilities with the activation of its content on the Abacus Global Distribution System (GDS), complementing its earlier activation with Sabre.

This milestone enables travel agents across Abacus-connected markets to seamlessly access and book SalamAir flights under the airline code OV, with ticketing available on the OV960 stock across selected active Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP) markets.

The Abacus activation significantly strengthens SalamAir’s reach across key Asian markets, with immediate availability in Thailand, Sri Lanka, and India, while Pakistan and Bangladesh are set to follow as part of a phased rollout.

This strategic expansion enhances accessibility for travel trade partners and supports the airline’s continued growth in high-demand regions.

By strengthening its presence across multiple GDS platforms, SalamAir is expanding its indirect distribution channels, making its competitive fares and growing network more accessible to a wider global audience.

The activation also supports the airline’s broader commercial strategy to diversify its sales channels and enhance connectivity between Oman and key international markets.

Steven Allen, Chief Commercial Officer at SalamAir, said: “Expanding our distribution through Abacus represents a key step in strengthening our presence across Asia’s high-growth travel markets. This addition enhances our accessibility for travel partners and supports our strategy to connect more passengers to Oman and beyond through efficient and cost-effective travel options. As we continue to scale our network, ensuring ease of access across multiple platforms remains a core priority. At the same time, we are committed to making Oman more accessible to the world, contributing to the growth of tourism, trade, and connectivity, in line with the broader objectives of Oman Vision 2040.” -TradeArabia News Service
