Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has announced that it has received bids from eight top contractors for  laying of glass reinforced epoxy (GRE) water transmission pipelines and associated works for the Hassyan Seawater Reverse Osmosis Phase 2 desalination project in Dubai.

These are Shapoorji Pallonji Mideast, Al Nasr Contracting, Wade Adams, RMB Contracting; Green Oasis General, Tristar Engineering and Construction and Oman-based Gulf Petrochemical Services Trading.

But as per the submitted proposals, Binladin Contracting Group has emerged as the lowest bidder with an offer of AED335.92 million ($99.4 million). 

According to Dewa, the project forms part of its ongoing expansion of Dubai’s strategic water transmission infrastructure to support the Hassyan SWRO Phase 2 desalination plant, one of the emirate’s key sustainable water supply developments.

It is aimed at enhancing the reliability, efficiency and capacity of the emirate’s potable water distribution system while supporting future demand.

The scope of work includes the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of GRE water transmission pipelines, together with all associated civil, mechanical and ancillary works required to connect the Hassyan SWRO Phase 2 facility to Dubai’s existing water transmission network. 

Following the evaluation process, Dewa is set to award the contract to the successful bidder in accordance with its procurement procedures.-TradeArabia News Service
