Iraq’s Oil Minister Bassem Mohammed Khudair said on September 9 that the country’s crude oil exports had increased to around 3 million barrels per day in September, while outlining plans to expand pipeline export capacity through Syria and Türkiye.

Khudair told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Iraq is exporting around 3 million barrels per day in September,” adding that “Iraq is committed to the OPEC ceiling in terms of production capacity, as we currently do not exceed 4.2 million barrels per day.”

He also revealed plans to boost exports through alternative pipeline routes, saying: “there is a future plan to increase pipeline export capacity via Syria and Türkiye’s Ceyhan port to more than 1 million barrels.”

The planned expansion would increase Iraq’s flexibility in transporting crude to international markets and strengthen its export infrastructure through regional routes.
