Qatar Tourism Chairman Saad Al-Kharji has called for stronger integration among GCC tourism markets, stressing the need to build on the sector’s resilience and move from cooperation towards a more competitive, unified tourism region.

Speaking at the 10th GCC Ministerial Meeting for Tourism Officials in Manama, Al-Kharji highlighted the importance of developing joint tourism packages, accelerating implementation of the unified GCC tourism visa and expanding joint promotional campaigns in key international markets.

He said the measures would facilitate visitor movement and strengthen the GCC’s position as an integrated global tourism destination.

Al-Kharji also said Doha’s designation as the Capital of Gulf Tourism for 2026 provides an opportunity to deepen cooperation among Gulf destinations and showcase the region’s shared cultural and tourism identity.

Qatar also reaffirmed its support for Saudi Arabia’s candidacy for membership of the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), strengthening Gulf representation in international tourism forums.

Al-Kharji further expressed Qatar’s support for Oman’s Jabal Akhdar region to become the Capital of Gulf Tourism for 2027, underscoring Qatar’s commitment to advancing tourism cooperation and integration across GCC states. -TradeArabia News Service
