Baker Hughes and Venture Global LNG are expanding their long-standing partnership through new awards supporting the Cloud Connector Pipeline and the expansion of the Plaquemines LNG facility in Louisiana, strengthening infrastructure across systems powered by Frame 5/2E gas turbines.
The deployment is among the largest of its
kind for LNG feed gas transportation in the US and
will support the reliable movement of natural gas through
the Cloud Connector Pipeline to the US natural gas and
LNG value chain.
Under the pipeline award, Baker Hughes will
provide 13 gas compression systems powered by Frame 5/2E
gas turbines.
The deployment is among the largest of
its kind for LNG feed gas transportation in the US and will
support the reliable movement of natural gas through the
Cloud Connector Pipeline to Venture Global’s
Plaquemines facility.
Baker Hughes will also supply a modular
liquefaction solution for the Plaquemines expansion, comprising
four liquefaction blocks and eight liquefaction modules.
The solution will include Chart cold boxes and
is designed to support additional LNG production capacity.
The combined awards highlight the importance of
integrated gas infrastructure in expanding LNG supply
and supporting global energy security.

The liquefaction technology for the
Plaquemines expansion follows a similar scope recently awarded
for the CP2 project.
Each liquefaction block will feature two
electric-motor-driven, single mixed-refrigerant (SMR) liquefaction modules
and associated compression trains using Baker Hughes’
centrifugal compressor technology.
The systems will also include cold boxes, air
coolers and integrated control systems.
The Cloud Connector award marks the second order
of Frame 5/2E gas turbine-driven centrifugal
compressor packages for Venture Global’s feed
gas pipeline.
It will bring the fleet supporting the Plaquemines
LNG facility to 23 Frame 5/2E-driven gas compression systems.
The latest awards further strengthen the
companies’ strategic relationship, with Baker Hughes supporting
more than 100 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of Venture
Global’s existing and planned LNG production capacity.
The projects also reinforce Baker Hughes’ role in providing integrated equipment and technology across the natural gas value chain as US LNG infrastructure continues to expand. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
