Hospitality Management Holding (HMH) is expanding technology-driven and circular-economy practices across its managed hotel portfolio as the hospitality sector seeks to reduce resource consumption and improve operational efficiency.

Hotels in the Northern Emirates are implementing initiatives targeting food waste, water use, single-use plastics and end-of-life materials.

At Coral Beach Resort Sharjah, a biodigester processes kitchen food waste and converts it into greywater for landscape irrigation, reducing organic waste while creating a reusable water resource.

The resort has also introduced an on-site water bottling plant to reduce dependence on single-use plastic bottles.

Its Coralganic Garden supplies fruit and vegetables to the resort’s culinary operations, supporting shorter supply chains and integrating sustainability into daily hotel activities.

At Bahi Ajman Palace Hotel, atmospheric water generators extract humidity from the air to produce drinking water.

The technology offers an alternative potable water source while reducing reliance on bottled water and the associated plastic use and transportation.

HMH-managed properties are also participating in textile circularity initiatives, diverting end-of-life linens and uniforms from landfill and enabling materials to be repurposed.

The initiatives reflect a wider industry shift, with sustainability increasingly linked to operational efficiency, procurement, asset management and long-term business strategy.

Collaboration is also playing a role, with Coral Beach Resort Sharjah hosting the launch of the Emirates Hospitality Sustainability Alliance, bringing hospitality stakeholders together to address shared challenges including water and energy consumption, food waste, procurement and resource efficiency. -TradeArabia News Service
