Turkish Airlines, Air China expand codeshare partnership

Turkish Airlines and Air China have expanded their codeshare agreement, strengthening connectivity between Türkiye, China and destinations across their wider networks.

The agreement was signed at the 4th China Air Transport Association (CATA) Aviation Conference & Exhibition in Beijing, building on a freesale codeshare arrangement introduced in June 2024 covering flights between Istanbul and Beijing.

Under the expanded partnership, all direct trunk routes between Türkiye and China, along with selected domestic services beyond Beijing and international connections beyond Istanbul, will be included in the codeshare network.

Turkish Airlines passengers will gain access to additional destinations in mainland China, including Shenzhen, Chongqing, Xiamen, Hangzhou, Nanjing and Qingdao. Air China passengers will gain onward connections through Istanbul to Ankara and destinations across Africa, including Accra, Lagos, Marrakesh, Dar es Salaam, Algiers and Tunis, as well as Latin American destinations such as Cancun and Mexico City.

Both airlines are members of Star Alliance and said the expanded cooperation will provide greater choice and smoother connections, with flights across both networks available under a single ticket.

The carriers also plan to extend the codeshare agreement to newly launched direct routes between Türkiye and China, supporting stronger travel, tourism and business links between the two countries. -TradeArabia News Service
