Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has advanced a series of aviation sector partnerships and agreements, including new MoUs with European air navigation organisations and an economic licence for air cargo handling at AlUla International Airport.

The agreements were announced during the 21st meeting of the Aviation Program Activation Steering Committee, chaired by GACA President Abdulaziz Al-Duailej and attended by officials and representatives from aviation sector entities.

During the meeting, GACA presented SAL Logistics Services with an economic licence to provide air cargo handling services at AlUla International Airport, supporting the development of the airport’s logistics capabilities.

Saudi Air Navigation Services also signed MoUs with EUROCONTROL and DFS Aviation Services, establishing cooperation involving key European aviation organisations.

 A separate MoU was signed between Cluster2 Airports Company and Prince Sultan Aviation Academy, further strengthening collaboration within Saudi Arabia’s aviation sector.

The committee reviewed air traffic indicators and aviation sector performance during the first half of 2026, alongside progress on projects supporting the sector’s development targets.

The meeting also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s renewed membership of the Executive Council of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization for 2026–2028, as well as developments in airport infrastructure and digital transformation.

Officials also reviewed challenges affecting programme implementation and measures aimed at accelerating project delivery and meeting sector objectives. -TradeArabia News Service
