Saudi Council of Engineers signs co-op deal with Germany's TÜV Rheinland

The Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) has signed a co-operation agreement with leading German technical services company TÜV Rheinland covering seven major areas, including data analysis, artificial intelligence, governance systems, engineering workforce analysis, and research and innovation.

The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the Saudi-German Forum for Innovation in Construction and Urban Development in Berlin, in the presence of SCE Secretary-General Musaad Al Otaibi, reported SPA.

It is aimed at strengthening co-operation and exchange of international expertise in engineering oversight, regulatory compliance, digital transformation and professional development in a bid to enhance the quality and efficiency of engineering practice.

The two sides will establish a joint working team to co-ordinate implementation, develop a timeline, and monitor progress through periodic reports.

The partnership is part of the Saudi Council’s efforts to expand international co-operation, strengthen oversight and compliance, and improve the quality and efficiency of engineering services in the kingdom,  stated the SPA report.

The MoU provides for the development of competency frameworks, professional assessment methods and classification standards for engineering firms, alongside training, knowledge transfer and efforts to identify skills gaps in the engineering workforce, it added.
