Bahrain Food Holding Company (Ghitha), has signed an MoU with Masar Group, a Bahraini company specialising in marine transportation, marine tourism and logistics services, to explore potential joint investment opportunities, collaboration and knowledge exchange in food distribution and logistics in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the wider region.
Ghitha and Masar, both portfolio companies of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat), will jointly explore the provision of logistics and distribution services by Masar to Ghitha and its portfolio companies, and the joint assessment of related food logistics infrastructure in the kingdom.
It will also work towards potential establishment of a joint venture to own and operate food logistics and distribution activities anchored in Ghitha Food Park.
The MoU was signed by Mahmood Zainal, Chief Executive Officer of Ghitha, and Eng. Yusuf Khalifa Al-Manea, Chief Executive Officer of Masar, on the sidelines of Gateway Gulf 2026.
Cooperation will extend to expanding regional and international market access for the products of Ghitha’s portfolio companies through Masar’s network, as well as knowledge exchange and technology solutions in digital tracking, inventory management and food safety compliance.
Commenting on the occasion, Zainal said: "Efficient, reliable logistics are central to the kingdom’s food sector and to the growth of our portfolio companies. Our collaboration with Masar brings together complementary capabilities to explore how we can strengthen storage, cold-chain and distribution infrastructure in Bahrain and connect our portfolio companies’ products with markets across the region."
Lauding the agreement, Al Manea expressed delight at partnering with Ghitha in an area that is vital to the kingdom’s food sector. "Masar’s logistics experience, combined with Ghitha’s position across Bahrain’s food sector, creates a strong platform to explore investment in modern, resilient food supply chains," he stated.
"This collaboration reflects Masar’s commitment to working with national entities to enhance our services and contribute to the growth of the national economy," he added.
The MoU represents an important step in strengthening collaboration between the two organisations, supporting the Kingdom’s continued development of the agri-food sector.
