ADNOC Gas, EtihadWE explore gas supply deal for Northern Emirates power generation

ADNOC Gas has signed an agreement with Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE) to explore future natural gas supply arrangements for new power generation capacity across the Northern Emirates of the UAE.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Suhail Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure and Chairman of EtihadWE’s Board of Directors.

The proposed collaboration aims to expand ADNOC Gas’ domestic customer base while securing reliable fuel supplies for additional electricity generation capacity, supporting the UAE’s growing energy requirements and long-term energy security.

Fatema Al Nuaimi, Chief Executive Officer of ADNOC Gas, said: “ADNOC Gas is investing to meet the UAE’s growing energy needs. By expanding our capacity and infrastructure, we can connect new gas supply with new customers, support future power generation and create sustainable long-term value for our shareholders.”

Yousif Al Ali, Chief Executive Officer of EtihadWE, said: “EtihadWE is developing a balanced portfolio of gas-fired and renewable energy generation to support the Northern Emirates’ long-term growth and evolving energy needs. Our partnership with ADNOC Gas, a global leader in the energy sector, strengthens our access to reliable, long-term gas supplies, supporting our commitment to delivering a secure, resilient and sustainable electricity system for the communities and businesses we serve.”

The potential partnership comes as ADNOC Gas advances one of the world's largest integrated gas growth programmes, designed to increase supply and strengthen the UAE’s energy infrastructure.

Key projects include Rich Gas Development, which will expand gas processing capacity and increase natural gas availability for domestic customers, and Estidama, which will modernise and optimise the company’s pipeline network to accommodate rising demand.

Together, the investments are expected to improve the transportation of additional gas from processing facilities to existing and future customers.

Expanding access to domestically produced natural gas is also expected to reduce reliance on imported fuels, strengthen the resilience of the UAE’s energy system and support economic and population growth.

For ADNOC Gas, the agreement represents an opportunity to establish additional long-term domestic demand as new production capacity comes online, complementing its existing UAE and international markets. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
