New Bahrain drive to aid young entrepreneurs

Manama, May 23, 2013

A new initiative aimed at allowing young entrepreneurs access to decision-makers has been launched in Bahrain.

Nasser Bin Hamad Foundation (NBHF) honorary president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa launched the campaign "Tawasul" (to communicate and connect).

Tawasul (tawasul.bh) is an initiative which aims to develop and institutionalise direct communication channels between the Nasser Bin Hamad Foundation and young entrepreneurs - to address their challenges and allow them to submit recommendations to improve regulatory and business environment affecting small and medium enterprises.

"International experiences have presented the wide ranging benefits of capitalising on crowd-sourced information and recommendation in policy making," Shaikh Nasser said.

"The objective of Tawasul is to provide a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to inform us of their difficulties or opportunities for improvement - be it in existing or emerging sectors.

"Where possible, the body will assist in streamlining procedures and creating direct and indirect communication between decision-makers and end users. It is time we capitalise on our technology-savvy youths to assist in identifying the bottlenecks," he said.

He explained that the initiative would start with a dedicated web-based channel and page for entrepreneurs to submit their ideas.

A NBHF committee will study the suggestions and forward them to the concerned authorities.

Shaikh Nasser urged Bahraini entrepreneurs to join this initiative and submit their suggestions to enable them to be part of the development processes taking place in the Kingdom. – TradeArabia News Service
