Kuwait April inflation climbs to 2.8pc y/y

Kuwait's inflation climbed to 2.8 per cent year-on-year (y/y) in April compared to 2.2 per cent last month mainly due to a sharp rise in food and housing prices, said a report.
 
The housing costs rose 3.2 per cent year-on-year but fell 0.1 per cent month-on-month in April, while the food prices jumped 4.9 per cent
on an annual basis and rose 1.2 per cent from the previous month, said the report released by the Kuwait's statistics office on Tuesday. 
 
Analysts polled by Reuters in April expected average inflation of 3.5 per cent in 2013, up from an upwardly revised 3.3 per cent last year. The office had originally reported average inflation of 2.9 per cent for 2012.-Reuters
