Abu Dhabi inflation jumps 3.8pc

Abu Dhabi's inflation jumped to 3.8 per cent in June, the highest rate since November 2010, according to the consumer price data released by the Abu Dhabi Statistics Centre.

Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance jumped 12.9 per cent from a year earlier in June, while miscellaneous goods and services climbed 7.3 percent and alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose 6.4 percent.

Abu Dhabi Statistics Centre said it estimated annual inflation for the third quarter of 2014 would be around 3.9 percent compared to 3.1 percent in the second quarter.

Analysts polled by Reuters in April forecast average inflation in the UAE would accelerate to 1.9 percent in 2014 and 2.5 percent in 2015 from 1.1 percent in 2013, which was the highest level since 2009. - Reuters
