DGCX Rupee contract volume hits new record

Dubai, June 26, 2011

The Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange (DGCX), the first derivatives exchange in the region, said its Indian Rupee/Dollar futures has registered the highest-ever daily volume record of 15,509 contracts worth $688.52 million.

The new record for the Indian Rupee contract was created on June 23 surpassing the previous record of 12,499 contracts worth $551.55 million achieved on February 22 this year, the DGCX said in a statement.

The contract also set an open interest record of 7,811 contracts on the same day, it added.
 
DGCX reached its highest ever daily total open interest of 13,033 on the day, beating the previous record of 12,294 set on June 22.

The Dubai exchange also achieved its second highest daily volumes with a total of 18,510 contracts, valued at $868.32 million on June 23.

The new open interest record for the contract exceeds the previous high of 7,578 set on June 13, the DGCX statement added.-TradeArabia News Service
