Petchem gains boost Saudi stocks

Saudi shares opened higher on Saturday led by gains in the petrochemical and banking sectors. The all-share climbed one per cent to 6,132 points.

The jump was mainly supported by gains in the petrochemical sector which added 1.6 per cent in early trade to 6,167 points.

Petrochemical giant Saudi Basic Industries (Sabic) added 1.4 per cent. The banking index also climbed, adding 0.7 per cent. Heavyweight Al-Rajhi Bank added one per cent.-Reuters
