Jotun Paints wins major RTA contracts

Dubai , September 17, 2007

Jotun Paints has secured several major projects from the Dubai Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) for the coating protection of a number of bridges and flyovers across the emirate.

The RTA's decision to award the projects to Jotun was influenced by the company's prior experience in similar projects, both locally and globally, the renowned quality and benefits of its products and the robust technical support offered by the company, said an official spokesman.

For the projects, Jotun will supply a total of 1.5 million litres of its Jotashield Tex Ultra paint, which will be used to coat the Business Bay Crossing, Al Garhoud Bridge, Floating Bridge, Interchange 4, 4.25, 5 and 5.25, The Palm Jumeirah Gateway/Middle/End Bridges, Dubai Metro, Dubai Bypass, Arabian Ranches Roundabout and The Palm Jumeirah Monorail.

The RTA has budgeted around Dh45 billion ($12.25 billion) to execute a number of road and bridge construction projects, including the construction of new main roads and adding to the number of lanes over Dubai Creek - from 19 to 47 crossings by 2008 and to 100 crossings by 2020 - and Jotun Paints is keen to play a significant role in these projects by being the main supplier of paints and coatings.

'The unrivalled technological innovation of Jotashield Tex Ultra and the quality of our technical support team have enabled us to secure these contracts with the RTA, with whom we are keen on building a long and mutually beneficial partnership. This project will be another opportunity for us to demonstrate the quality of our products as well as our expertise, which have helped us become market leaders,' said brand manager, Jotun Paints, Niru Naik.

Jotun has worked closely with reputed contractors including Dutco Bealfour Beatty, BeSix Construct, Wade Adams, Al Naboodah Contracting, Taisei Corporation, WJ&P and Bin Hafeez General Contracting for the several projects initiated by the RTA.Trade Arabia News Service
