Mapei launches new concrete admixture line

Dubai, March 16, 2010

Mapei, a global leader in the production of adhesives, sealants and chemical products for buildings, recently launched its new concrete admixture product line.

The line has been specifically developed to help address technical and efficiency issues in the concrete industry, especially in the UAE where a 40 per cent cut in concrete production has driven the industry to focus on maximising efficiency.

Mapei revealed that the new concrete admixture product line could also help to produce 'greener' concrete as it minimises energy use during mixing, application and finishing and reduces cement and water content, resulting in lower carbon footprint.

The new product line also features special properties that make it a perfect match for the region's demanding climatic conditions, said a statement.

To support its expanding market base, particularly in the UAE, Mapei announced that it has recently completed the construction and commissioning of its state-of-the-art admixture manufacturing facility at its production site in Dubai Investment Park (DIP), while a fully equipped concrete laboratory, which will provide the latest in technical support for regional concrete technologists, is nearing completion.

'The launch of our newest line of admixtures represents our continuing strategy of identifying the distinct needs of each target market and developing products that both add value and improve performance,' stated Laith Haboubi, business development director, IBS-Mapei.

'The new product line retains the distinctive qualities of all our other admixtures and additives when it comes to enhancing performance of concrete both during and after casting. This can range from such attributes as flowability, set times and even surface finish.'

Mapei admixtures have been used  in some of the most challenging construction projects in the world including the three gorges dam in China, the Milan-Bologna high speed rail link, the Troll platform in the North Sea, Singapore Metro, and Munich Airport, to name a few, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
