Al Reyadah GM stresses on quality of AC systems

Abu Dhabi, October 2, 2011

UAE-based contracting company Al Reyadah has stressed the importance of using high quality air-conditioning systems in green buildings in the UAE.

Engineer Mohammed Swairjo, general manager, Al Reyadah, said: “UAE is one of the biggest users of air conditioning in the world, as the country needs it for more than nine months a year. It has gone a long way in promoting green building methods and overall energy conservation.  On the other hand, consumers should be more educated on the type of products they are putting into their homes, and what power consumption to expect.”

He was speaking a technical conference hosted by Midea CAC and their sole agent Elapco Electronic Appliances in China.

Swairjo said: “Air-conditioning is the highest portion of energy consumption in residential and commercial buildings.  In the Gulf climate, electricity consumption is due mostly to cooling and chilling.”

Air Conditioning systems consume around 60 percent of the building’s input energies. HVAC system design starts with a building’s initial planning. The owner provides requirements for the project. Clearly defined building functions at early stages helps in smoothening the design process.

HVAC system is an important component of green building concepts. Indoor air quality is maintained and improved with the help of this system.

“Understanding load components of different spaces is the key to saving energy. Constant loads include equipment or lighting loads where there is minimal effect on weather changes on these areas unlike variable loads that depends on people density, for example.” Swairjo said.

“If spaces are not planned well, energies are wasted. Techniques like night cooling or thermal energy storage can substantially reduce overall energy usage,” he added.

Controls perform a very important function of reducing energy consumptions. Through controls equipment operation can be scheduled as per actual requirement, avoiding energy wastage.

Al Reyadah’s scope of services include the complete supply, installation, operation, testing, commissioning, maintenance and PM of the entire Electro-mechanical HVAC & Civil, plumbing, fire fighting and fire alarm, electrical, security and surveillance, as well as IT and audio / visual systems.

Al Reyadah is a specialised AC contracting and management company which works across diver sectors, including hospitals, schools, universities, sportive clubs, factories, residential units, offices and other facilities. The company works on treating all sorts of maintenance as well. – TradeArabia News Service
