Johnson wins Doha mall maintenance deal

Doha, January 3, 2012

Johnson Controls, the global leader energy efficient solutions for buildings, has signed a contract with City Center Doha, Qatar to provide total building operation and maintenance services.

The two-year contract, valued at $14 million, includes Johnson Controls’ bundled facilities management and operational efficiency services that reduce facility operating costs, ensure rapid return on investment and increase the value and competitiveness of the center.

City Center Doha, owned by Aamal Company, is considered the largest mall in Qatar with 300,000 sq m of space spread over five floors. The mall is home to famous international, regional and local retail brands and attracts 45,000 average daily visitors – up to 70,000 during public holidays.

“As part of this total management project, we will be integrating information from different building management and camera systems to effectively communicate together,” Anil Yamaner, LEED AP branch manager, Johnson Controls Qatar.

“We see this type of interoperability and open standards as key to the future of building efficiency and management.”

Johnson Controls will implement performance-optimization measures for existing heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems and additional measures such as efficient lighting and water and resource conservation.

As part of the energy performance contract, Johnson Controls has guaranteed an 11 per cent annual reduction in utility costs. Those savings will be used to pay for the improvements without any initial capital required by the center.

Johnson Controls will also provide comprehensive technical maintenance, cleaning and security services. Johnson Controls also went beyond the scope of the project by conducting free safety audits for the car park and installing efficient anti-glare LED lighting and clear signage helping to provide a safer experience for visitors. – TradeArabia News Service
