Drake & Scull wins big India, Saudi contracts

Dubai, May 6, 2013

Drake & Scull International (DSI), a regional market leader in the integrated design, engineering and construction sector, has won key infrastructure Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) contracts worth Dh385 million ($105 million) from India and Saudi Arabia.

DSI said its subsidiary in India has signed a Dh205 million contract with a private energy company there for the design, engineering, inspection, and delivery of a coal conveyor system from a mine head to a thermal power station in the state of Orissa on an EPC basis.

On the Saudi's Information Technology and Communication Complex (ITCC) Auxiliary Works project, the company said the Dh180 million contract will be jointly undertaken by Drake & Scull’s local engineering and general contracting divisions in the kingdom.

As per the contract, DSI will be responsible for the complete engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) of the ITCC Auxiliary Works in Saudi Arabia.

Commenting on the new wins, CEO Khaldoun Tabari said: "We are continuing to move forward with our expansion drive across the region and India, and Drake & Scull’s one-stop service proposition is vital in realizing our growth strategy."

"These contracts clearly demonstrate our unique ability to cater to a wide array of specialized requirements and we intend to build on these high-profile projects to further consolidate our stronghold in the regional market," remarked Tabari.

"The construction boom and widespread development initiatives being undertaken across the region continue to gain momentum, and DSI is certainly strongly positioned to provide the expertise, technologies and resources to support the gradual roll-out of these large-scale development projects," he added.

Dubai-based Drake & Scull continues to enhance and strengthen its services offering with unmatched vertical integration and global footprint.

The collaborative capabilities of the engineering services (MEP and Water and Power), General Contracting, Oil and Gas, Rail and Infrastructure development continue to deliver strong performance quality work on project sites, said the top official.
