Omani contractors urge govt to reimburse wage rise

Muscat, August 21, 2013

The Oman Society of Contractors has urged the government to reimburse the cost escalation of ongoing projects following a raise in minimum wage for Omani workers, said a report.

The cost was initially estimated based on the minimum wage at RO220 ($570), which has been raised by RO105 to RO325 last month, said the Times of Oman report.

The government has given assurance to the contracting companies that it will look into their demand to offset additional financial burden arising from this increase in salaries and other allowances of local workers, it said.
