Manama, December 9, 2013

Bahrain Ministry of Social Development has awarded a BD2.88 million ($7.6 million) contract to Dar Al Khaleej Trading & Contracting for the construction of a major social centre project.

MoW’s Assistant Undersecretary for Construction and Maintenance Projects Mona Al Motawa said the work on the the ShaikhaSabeeka Social Centre Project will begin this month. The centre’s design reflects Bahrain’s rich architecture history, and covers an area of 8350 sq m, she stated.

Located in Al Hunainiya Valley close to Riffa Club, the project consists of a three-storeyed social building, with administrative offices, training, lectures and social activities halls, a multi-purpose theatre that accommodates 286 persons, electricity sub-station, parking lot and other related services.

The work on the project, which is owned by the Ministry of Social Development, will take 18 months to complete and is due for completion in July 2015.

Al Motawa said the project highlights the government’s keenness to enhance and improve social services provided to citizens.

"Also, the project is fully supported by Shaikha Sabeeka, who constantly makes sure that Bahraini families and other groups in the society receive proper social care; all of which are part of the various social services provided by the Ministry of Social Development such as handcrafts training, health awareness campaigns and lectures that are held in special centres built according to the best technical standards that reflect the modern aspect of the kingdom," she stated.-TradeArabia News Service
