Al Meera awards new stores contract to Shannon

Al Meera Consumer Goods Company (QSC), a leading retailer in Qatar, has signed an agreement with top construction firm Shannon Engineering for the construction of two new Al Meera stores.

The agreement was signed by Al Meera chief executive officer Guy Sauvage and the general manager of Shannon Engineering Company, Hany Abdel Fattah.

Under the agreement, Shannon Engineering will build the two stores of Al Muraikh (land area 5,526 sq m) and Jeryan Nejaima (land area 5,526 sq m), and is expected to open to the public within nine  months of construction period.

Al Meera recently announced the construction of seven new shopping stores at Rawdat Ekdeem, Al Azizia, Zakhira, Al Wajba, Muaither, Al Wakra, and Al Thumama, in order to fulfill the different needs of Qatar’s residents wherever they are. Accordingly, Al Meera forecasts to open up to 10 branches by the end of 2014.

“The decision to build two more new branches align with our expansion policy to make everyone very close to Al Meera stores in every corner of Qatar”, Sauvage added. “Al Meera is not only building state-of-the-art stores, but also rehabilitating its old branches and maintaining them to fully transfer to the new innovative concept in order to promote new standards of a comfortable shopping experience in all the branches in Qatar.”

According to Sauvage, the new branches will be contemporary buildings following the design of other branches recently opened, and the concept of malls that includes the supermarket, many shopping outlets and a number of restaurants providing diverse customers with their daily needs.

Fattah said that the construction of the two new stores is a testament to the commitment of Al Meera to help the country develop into a world-class shopping hub.

“We are glad to be part of this cooperation. We will do our best to build these 2 branches within 9 months by dedicating all the company’s efforts.  Our company will construct both branches in line with our commitment to modernization in building and designing complexes, taking into consideration the Qatari market requirements.
